"Couldn't Create Storage Space for Visual Basic Module" Error Message
Solution
When you try to open a database file, you may receive the following error message:
Invalid database object.
When you click OK, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Access couldn't create storage space for Visual basic module.
When you click OK, you may also receive the following error message:
Device I/O error.
You may receive these error messages if you try to open a database file that was created in a newer version of Access than the one you are currently using. For example, if you try to open the Northwind.mdb database that ships with Access 97 in Access 95, you will receive the described error messages.
You cannot open an Access database with an older version of Access than the version that created the database. If you need to work with a database across multiple versions of Access, you should create the database in the earliest version of Access that you are using, and then enable the database for use in the later version.
NOTE: You can only make design changes to an enabled database in the version of Access that was used to create the file. For example, if you create a database in Access 95, and then enable the database for use in Access 97, you will be able to open the database and modify data in both version of Access, but you will have to use Access 95 to make any design changes to the database.
