Considered to be a top-secret upgrade to Google’s search engine technology, Caffeine is fashioned to assist surfers to search the World Wide Web faster, while returning more pertinent results with superior accuracy and comprehensiveness. Since the latest upgrade sits within the sleeve of the Google Search machine, Google officials say that majority of users wouldn’t immediately detect a big difference in their search findings. To quote Google engineers, Sitaram Iyer and Matt Cutts: "But Web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we're opening up a Web developer preview to collect feedback," As per comScore Inc data, Google accounts for 65% of U.S. searches in June and enjoys a near monopoly control on the search market in US and the world; still one cannot deny the fact that it has conceded some of its search related share to rival Microsoft. Reasons for this unwilling sharing of pie can be traced to Microsoft’s revamped search wonder Bing and its July 29 alliance with Yahoo to offer search technology on Yahoo sites. The Yahoo deal remains a head turning one as it gave Microsoft Corp nearly 28% of the overall search market, presenting a more daunting adversary for Google.

Google is requesting developers to test out its technology upgrades and offer their thoughts on the differences between caffeine and Google's ongoing search engine, including feedback on which sites are ranking higher or worse in the new system. Already some of the users who took the plunge have reported differing experiences. Some have noted more twitter pages in the search results while others observed cleaner and more relevant results with a huge improvement in quality. While Google works on this innovative streak, it is left to us users to actually go out and try this new offering and offer relevant feedback so that a better search experience jolts us the next time.
